Ear Infections

Middle ear is the smallest part of the ear behind the ear drum. The infection of middle ear is commonly known as ear infection. Common cold can cause ear infection as cold can result in the swelling of tube connecting the ear to the throat. This swelling traps the fluid inside the ear creating an infection.

Ear infections are common among young children. The main symptoms of ear infection are ear ache and fever. In some cases,  a yellow discharge comes out of the ears. This happens when the infection causes the eardrums to burst resulting in the yellow discharge. This is not serious as the eardrums heal by themselves. In general, ear infections can be cured at home by giving the child over the counter acetaminophen (e.g. Tylenol) however, in some cases antibiotics may be needed.
